Sample Making
This is one of the most exciting stages of the development, where we produce your first 3-dimensional garment and see your ideas come to life. This process is important because it allows you to see the fit and whether your garment drapes and fits the way you envisioned.
- A first prototype or sample garment in the fashion industry is called a ‘toile’. A toile is a test garment made from a cheaper fabric similar in handling, weight, drape and stretch properties to your final fabric used to assess the fit, aesthetics and proportioning of a pattern.
- Quality samples sell products. A fully finished sample garment of your design can also be made using your final fabrics and trims, this sample can then also be used for showing to your buyers or manufacturers.
- Samples are a critical element in the development process, although samples cannot be created without patterns, therefore if you do not have your patterns yet we can help.
